Author
Barry W. North was born and raised in New Orleans. He worked twenty-eight years as a refrigeration mechanic for the St. Charles Parish Public Schools in Louisiana. Since his retirement in 2007 he has won the 2009 Long Story Contest International and the 2010 A.E. Coppard Prize for Fiction. More recently, he won Honorable Mention in the 2011 Allen Ginsberg Poetry Awards. He has been nominated twice for the Pushcart Prize.

In addition, his poetry and fiction has appeared or is forthcoming in numerous literary magazines, including Slipstream, The Hawaii Pacific Review, The Louisiana Review, The Paterson Literary Review, The Dos Passos Review, Blue Lake Review, Green Hills Literary Lantern, Serving House Journal, Ancient Paths, and others.

In conjunction with the A. E. Coppard Prize, a fiction chapbook, Along the Highway, was published in 2010 by White Eagle Coffee Store Press. Terminally Human is his first poetry chapbook.

Barry North lives with his wife Diane in Hahnville, Louisiana where they enjoy their retirement and their wonderful families, who teach them every day that only love can give this fleeting life its saving grace.
